Global B Programming & Upgrades

Global B is GM’s newest electrical architecture. It requires Techline Connect — GM’s subscription-based diagnostic platform — to marry new modules to the vehicle. Unlike older GM vehicles where many upgrades are plug-and-play, Global B vehicles need factory-level programming for any module swap or upgrade. Most independent shops and even many GM dealers are not equipped to handle Global B programming for upgrades and retrofits.

WAMS is one of the only independent facilities in the country performing Global B programming for aftermarket upgrades.

12.3-Inch Digital Cluster Upgrade — 2022.5–2026 Silverado & Sierra

Upgrade your 2022.5–2026 Silverado or Sierra from the base analog cluster to the full 12.3-inch digital cluster display — the same cluster found in High Country and Denali trims. WAMS supplies a brand-new OEM cluster and performs the complete Techline Connect marriage, VIN calibration, mileage transfer, and security credential setup. This is not a plug-and-play swap — it requires factory-level programming that WAMS handles before shipping.

Video Processing Module (VPM) Programming — 2022.5+ Trucks

The VPM controls camera feeds, surround vision, and display routing. If you’re replacing a VPM, adding surround vision, or upgrading camera functionality on a 2022.5+ truck, the new module must be married to the vehicle through Techline Connect. WAMS handles the full VPM programming, calibration, and feature activation.

How to Tell If Your Truck Is Global B (2022.5+ Refresh)

For 2022 Silverado and Sierra pickups, year alone is not enough to determine your vehicle’s architecture. GM produced both pre-refresh and refresh trucks during the 2022 model year.

Check your VIN: Look at the last 8 digits of your VIN. If they begin with NG5, NZ5, NG6, or any sequence higher than NG6, your truck is a 2022.5+ refresh model with Global B architecture. If the last 8 digits begin with a lower sequence, you have a pre-refresh truck.

Visual identification: Refresh trucks have a redesigned front fascia, updated interior trim, and a revised infotainment screen layout. However, VIN verification is always the definitive method.

2021+ full-size SUVs (Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Yukon XL, Escalade) are all Global B — no VIN check needed for those.

Pontiac GTO, G8, Chevy SS & Caprice PPV Specialist

WAMS has been programming GM modules since before most shops knew what a BCM was. We’re one of the few shops in the country still actively supporting these specialty platforms:

Pontiac GTO (2004–2006): Instrument cluster programming with shift light activation, DRL delete, and speedometer recalibration. Brand-new 2006 replacement clusters from the last production run. Cluster face retrofits from 2004 to the refreshed 2005/2006 design.

Pontiac G8 (2008–2009.5): Custom BCM programming, manual transmission conversion BCM coding, OnStar/VCIM Bluetooth integration, Holden IQ retrofit programming, XM/Sirius retrofit, video-in-motion unlock, and Atari gauge reprogramming.

Don’t see your exact vehicle or module listed? WAMS offers custom programming for virtually any supported GM module. With over 20 years of exclusive GM electronics experience and access to GM’s full diagnostic software suite, we can program, configure, and validate most GM control modules.

What is Global B and why does it matter?

Global B is GM’s newest electrical architecture, found in the 2022.5+ Silverado and Sierra, 2021+ Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Escalade, CT4, CT5, and C8 Corvette. It uses a completely different security and communication protocol than older GM vehicles. Any module replacement or upgrade on a Global B vehicle requires Techline Connect — GM’s subscription diagnostic platform. Most shops don’t have it. WAMS does.

Can I upgrade the cluster on my 2022.5+ Silverado or Sierra?

Yes. WAMS offers a 12.3-inch digital cluster upgrade for 2022.5–2026 Silverado and Sierra. It replaces the base analog cluster with the full digital display found in Denali and High Country trims. This requires Techline Connect programming — WAMS handles everything before shipping.

How do I know if my 2022 truck is a refresh model?

Check the last 8 digits of your VIN. If they begin with NG5, NZ5, NG6, or higher, you have a 2022.5 refresh truck with Global B architecture. Earlier 2022 production trucks use the older architecture. Send us your VIN if you’re unsure and we’ll confirm.

Do I need to visit a dealer after installing a WAMS module?

For most applications, no. WAMS modules ship pre-programmed to your VIN for plug-and-play installation. Global B upgrades that require an on-vehicle marriage procedure are the exception — WAMS coordinates that process and provides clear instructions.

What’s the difference between WAMS and a GM dealer?

We use the same diagnostic software and calibration files. The difference is that WAMS specializes in upgrades, retrofits, and custom configurations that most dealers either can’t do or refuse to do. Dealers handle warranty work and standard replacements — they won’t program a Denali cluster into your base-model truck or custom-configure a BCM. WAMS will.

Can WAMS program a module I purchased elsewhere?

Yes. WAMS offers standalone programming services for customers who sourced their own hardware. Send in your module and we’ll program it to your VIN with the correct calibration, option content, and security credentials. Available for clusters, BCMs, HMI modules, radios, and most other GM control modules.
