Global B Programming & Upgrades
Global B is GM’s newest electrical architecture, introduced in the 2022.5 model year refresh. It uses a fundamentally different security and communication protocol than all prior GM platforms. Any module replacement or upgrade on a Global B vehicle requires Techline Connect — GM’s subscription-based, dealership-licensed diagnostic platform — to complete the module marriage process. Without a valid Techline Connect subscription and the proper credentials, the new module will not communicate with the vehicle.
Global B vehicles include: 2022.5+ Chevrolet Silverado, 2022.5+ GMC Sierra, 2021+ Chevrolet Tahoe, 2021+ Chevrolet Suburban, 2021+ GMC Yukon, 2021+ GMC Yukon XL, 2021+ Cadillac Escalade, Cadillac CT4, Cadillac CT5, and 2020+ Chevrolet Corvette (C8).

How to Tell If Your Truck Is Global B (2022.5+ Refresh)
For 2022 Silverado and Sierra pickups, model year alone is not enough. GM produced both pre-refresh (Global A) and refresh (Global B) trucks during the 2022 model year. The programming requirements are completely different between the two.
Check your VIN: Look at the last 8 digits of your VIN. If they begin with NG5, NZ5, NG6, or any sequence higher than NG6, your truck is a 2022.5+ refresh model with Global B architecture. If the last 8 digits begin with a lower sequence, you have a pre-refresh truck and different programming rules apply.
Visual identification: Refresh trucks have a redesigned front fascia, updated interior trim, and a revised infotainment screen layout. However, VIN verification is always the definitive method — visual differences can be misleading on lightly-optioned trims.
2021+ full-size SUVs (Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Yukon XL, Escalade) are all Global B — no VIN check needed for those platforms.
Not sure? Send us your VIN and we’ll confirm your architecture and compatible upgrades in minutes.

Custom Module Programming
Don’t see your exact vehicle or module listed? WAMS offers custom programming for virtually any supported GM module. With over 20 years of exclusive GM electronics experience and access to GM’s full diagnostic software suite — Techline Connect, GDS2, SPS2, and Tech2 — we can program, configure, and validate most GM control modules.
Common custom requests include feature activation, option content changes, VIN reprogramming, module pairing, security credential setup, and configuration for modules swapped between vehicles. We also program modules sourced by the customer — ship us your module and we’ll program it to your VIN and ship it back ready to install.
Contact us with your VIN and a description of what you need — we’ll confirm compatibility and provide a quote.
Why WAMS for GM Programming
GM-exclusive focus. WAMS does not program Fords, Toyotas, or BMWs. Every tool, every software license, and every hour of experience is dedicated to GM vehicles. Founded in New Hudson, Michigan in 2003, we have spent over two decades on one brand. That focus means we have seen configurations and edge cases that generalist shops will never encounter.
Dealership-grade tooling — the real thing. WAMS uses the same GM diagnostic platforms that authorized GM dealerships use: Techline Connect for Global B vehicles, GDS2 for Global A architectures, SPS2 for module programming across platforms, and Tech2 for legacy vehicles. No cloned tools, no cracked software, no aftermarket workarounds. The same calibration files, the same security credentials, the same process.
Brand-new OEM parts only. Every module, cluster, radio, and HMI unit we sell is brand-new genuine GM hardware — not a salvage pull, not a refurbished unit, not an aftermarket substitute. When we program a cluster to your VIN, it is the same part the dealer would install on a new vehicle.
VIN-specific programming. Every module ships pre-programmed to your vehicle’s exact VIN with correct mileage, option content, security credentials, and calibration data. Not a generic flash — your specific vehicle’s configuration.
Worldwide mail-in service. WAMS serves customers worldwide. For the vast majority of our services, you order online or contact us with your VIN — we program the module and ship it directly to you. Plug-and-play installation. No dealer visit required. For Global B modules that require an on-vehicle Techline Connect marriage procedure, WAMS coordinates the process remotely and provides step-by-step instructions.
How It Works
WAMS is a mail-in service. You don’t need to bring your vehicle anywhere.
Step 1 — Order & Send Your VIN
Purchase the upgrade or service you need, or contact us with your VIN for a compatibility check and quote. For module-only services, no need to ship anything — just provide your VIN and we source the part.
Step 2 — WAMS Programs Your Module
WAMS programs your brand-new OEM module to your exact VIN using GM’s own diagnostic software. Correct mileage, option content, security credentials, and calibration data — all set before it ships. For Global B modules requiring an on-vehicle procedure, we coordinate that process with you remotely.
Step 3 — Install & Drive
Your pre-programmed module arrives ready for plug-and-play installation. Install it yourself or have any shop do it — no additional dealer programming required for most services. That’s it.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Global B and why does it matter?
Global B is GM’s newest electrical architecture, found in the 2022.5+ Silverado and Sierra, 2021+ Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Escalade, CT4, CT5, and C8 Corvette. It uses a completely different security and communication protocol than older GM vehicles. Any module replacement or upgrade requires Techline Connect — GM’s subscription diagnostic platform. Most independent shops and many dealers are not equipped to perform Global B upgrades. WAMS is one of the few independent facilities in the country with active Techline Connect access used specifically for upgrades and retrofits.
What is the difference between Global A and Global B?
Global A is GM’s electrical architecture used in vehicles from roughly 2019 through early 2022. Global B is the updated architecture introduced at the 2022.5 model year refresh on Silverado, Sierra, and other models. Global B uses a different network topology, a new security credential system, and requires Techline Connect for any module work. WAMS supports both architectures with the correct OEM-level tools for each: GDS2 and SPS2 for Global A, Techline Connect for Global B.
How do I know if my 2022 Silverado or Sierra is Global B?
Check the last 8 digits of your VIN. If they begin with NG5, NZ5, NG6, or higher, you have a 2022.5 refresh truck with Global B architecture. If they begin with NF or a lower sequence, you have the pre-refresh model with Global A architecture. Send us your VIN if you are unsure — we confirm architecture at no charge.
Can I upgrade the cluster on my 2022.5+ Silverado or Sierra?
Yes. WAMS offers a 12.3-inch digital cluster upgrade for 2022.5–2026 Silverado and Sierra that replaces the base analog cluster with the full digital display found in Denali and High Country trims. WAMS handles the complete Techline Connect module marriage, VIN calibration, mileage transfer, and security credential setup before the unit ships. Plug-and-play installation — no dealer visit required after.
What is BCM programming and why would I need it?
BCM (Body Control Module) programming configures the central module that manages your vehicle’s electrical behavior — lighting, door locks, windows, mirrors, chimes, remote start, auto start-stop, and more. You may need BCM programming when replacing a failed module, enabling features not originally included from the factory, performing a manual transmission conversion (such as on a Pontiac G8 or Caprice PPV), or customizing your vehicle’s behavior. WAMS uses OEM GM diagnostic platforms for all BCM work.
What is VPM programming?
VPM (Video Processing Module) programming configures the module that manages camera feeds in GM trucks — including backup camera, surround vision, and trailering camera systems. Any VPM replacement or camera system upgrade on a T1 pickup requires the module to be programmed to the vehicle. WAMS offers VPM programming for both Global A (2019–2022.1) and Global B (2022.5+) T1 pickups, including trailering camera additions and surround vision conversions.
What is the difference between WAMS and a GM dealer?
WAMS uses the same diagnostic software and calibration files as authorized GM dealerships. The difference is what WAMS is willing to do with those tools. Dealers focus on warranty work and standard replacements — they will not program a Denali cluster into your base-model truck, custom-configure a BCM, or perform a manual transmission conversion. WAMS specializes in exactly those upgrades, retrofits, and custom configurations that dealers won’t touch.
Do I need to visit a dealer after installing a WAMS module?
For most applications, no. WAMS modules ship pre-programmed to your VIN for plug-and-play installation. Global B upgrades that require an on-vehicle Techline Connect marriage procedure are the exception — WAMS coordinates that process remotely and provides clear step-by-step instructions for completing it.
Does WAMS offer wireless CarPlay upgrades?
Yes. WAMS offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrade kits for multiple GM platforms including 2019+ Silverado and Sierra, 2020+ C8 Corvette, 2016+ C7 Corvette, 6th gen Camaro, Cadillac CT4, CT5, XT5, and XT6, and Chevrolet Blazer. All modules are VIN-programmed before shipping.
Can WAMS program a module I purchased elsewhere?
Yes. WAMS offers standalone programming services for customers who sourced their own hardware. Ship your module to WAMS and we will program it to your VIN with the correct calibration, option content, and security credentials. Available for clusters, BCMs, HMI modules, radios, and most other GM control modules.
How does mileage transfer work for cluster upgrades?
When WAMS programs a replacement or upgrade cluster to your VIN, the correct mileage is written to the module as part of the programming process using GM’s calibration data. The cluster will display your vehicle’s actual mileage from the moment it is installed. This applies to all cluster upgrades across all supported platforms.
What Pontiac and specialty vehicles does WAMS support?
WAMS is a specialist in Pontiac GTO (2004–2006), Pontiac G8 (2008–2009.5), Chevrolet SS (2014–2017), and Chevrolet Caprice PPV (2011–2017). Services include instrument cluster programming, BCM programming, manual transmission conversion BCM coding, radio unlock and retrofit programming, Holden/HSV infotainment conversions, and custom module configurations. These platforms are not supported by most shops — WAMS has been actively developing services for them for over a decade.
Can WAMS program a module that is not listed on the website?
Likely yes. WAMS offers a custom module programming service for GM vehicles. Contact us with your vehicle details and the specific module or feature you need — if it is a GM module on a supported platform, we can almost certainly program it. Use the contact form or send your VIN and we will confirm and quote.
